This book is a treasure trove of antique designs that can be worked into special projects by those who love Redwork Embroidery, a technique that the author has enjoyed since she was just five years old!
The designs for a 1893 Redwork summer coverlet are retained in this e-book edition. A special project that uses one of the larger motifs in the coverlet, a framed Crescent Moon Goddess, is offered with step-by-step directions.
We are pleased to provide photos of two very old baby quilts from a private collection in Massachusetts. One of them is a treasured family heirloom with drawings by Joseph Cummings Chase who later became a lifelong professional artist and was commissioned to draw and paint portraits of generals during World War I and beyond. Neither of these quilts has been published before.
Another interesting baby quilt is featured. Made in Canada, the quilt has 10 animal designs and it enchanted me to the point that I reproduced the much loved, thread worn quilt. The kitty, shown below, is one of those re-created designs.

An addition to the e-book version of this product is another antique quilt top with 49 designs whose pattern source may have been stamped Penny Squares.
