New e-book on CD:  Redwork Renaissance Revisited

Redwork Renaissance Revisited, an e-book by Patricia Lynne Grace Cummings, and James Cummings (photographer), has 187 pages and 239 photos/ and other graphics. The History of Redwork is discussed briefly. Many antique examples of designs are provided that you can download and re-create in projects of your own. The textiles presented span several centuries.

Redwork Renaissance Revisited - CD cover

The photo and designs for the 1893 Redwork summer coverlet from our very first book, Redwork Renaissance, published in 2002, are still present in this edition. A special project, a framed “Crescent Moon Goddess,” is offered, with step-by-step directions. The book includes history, designs, and practical advice for doing Redwork. The CD will play on any computer, using Adobe Reader, a free program that is easy to download.

We are pleased to be able to provide photos of two very old quilts from a private collection in Massachusetts. Both are baby quilts. One of them is a treasured and very special, family heirloom, for its owner. Both quilts have never before been published.

Ten  animal designs on an antique Greenwork baby quilt, made in Canada, enchanted me to the point that I  reproduced the project. The kitty shown below is one of those designs.

Another purchased antique quilt top seems to have started life as stamped penny squares. See the unique way in which the quilter economized so that she would not have to purchase 49 different block patterns!

Kitty stitched by Pat

This is a kitty re-created in Greenwork, embroidered by Patricia Cummings. The design is one of ten animals from the same Canadian Greenwork antique baby quilt from which the motif was saved.

Clear instructions are provided for doing Redwork embroidery by hand. If you have wondered about how to knot your thread, how to do the stitches of outline stitch embroider, whether to use a hoop, etc.. the answers to your questions are included.

Additional antique motifs have been added from nineteenth century and early twentieth century design sources, a few of which were used when designing a doll bed quilt that is pictured in the e-book.

With so many photos/ and graphics, you can only imagine the visual-richness of this e-book. This e-book offers a treasure trove of design possibilities drawn from a multitude of antique sources. The e-book would be excellent for a beginner and would provide many tips for the more experienced embroiderer.

Price = $19.99, plus 3.95 shipping.  Paypal, check or money order accepted. If you would like to place an order, but live outside of the U.S., please write to pat@quiltersmuse.com so that we can determine whether or not there is an additional shipping cost.

If you enjoy antique designs, you will love this e-book!

Read about an Inspired Quilter and Quilt Historian Who Saved Quilt Designs
Just for You!

Have you ordered your copy of the book about New Hampshire's early quilt historian, Ellen Webster, yet? She worked in documenting quilt designs from antique quilts, in the 1930s. Written by quilt historian, Patricia Cummings, the well-researched and lengthy e-book about Mrs. Webster, her work, and all of the quilt designs she "saved," is like a breath of fresh air.

The 355 pages includes vast and previously unknown information that you will find nowhere else, plus 340 photos, including vintage ones. This e-book would be called a "page turner," were you looking at it in print form. The e-book can be printed, if it is easier for you to read it in a print format.

The many designs are inspiring. Whether you are reading about the times in which she lived, or viewing a family photo of Christmas in 1892, this book is a joy to own, and revisit, again and again, for inspiration. The study of her life was a joy!
