My quilts are an eclectic mix of many styles and techniques. I enjoy ethnic quilting of all types, and do most of my work by hand. Occasionally, I will machine piece or machine quilt a quilt, but if I have the time, I prefer handwork.

Appliqué, Crazy Quilting, Embroidery, and Hand Quilting are my specialties.

Hawaiian fantasy quilt

Hawaiian Fantasy

This quilt is an example of a quilt I made that won a blue ribbon at the Stratham County, NH fair. The fabric was hand painted by me. I adapted a Plumeria design found in a book by Elizabeth Root that is now published by Dover Publications.

Kansas Sunflowers quilt

Kansas Sunflowers

This cheerful quilt was inspired after a dear friend in the state of Kansas had sent me fabrics and designs for blocks in six succeeding years to make pieced sunflower blocks. When the state fabric was issued, it seemed just the right touch for the outer border. Please see the close-up of the hand quilting motif for the alternate blocks.

It was a hard decision as to how to quilt the alternate blocks but I found a commercial stencil that more or less fit the space. The quilted hearts seemed appropriate as my son has already laid claim to it, upon seeing it as a work in progress.

George's fire dog quilt

This is a close-up picture of the center of my great-nephew George's fire dog quilt. The quilt has now traveled to California to be with a terrific little boy, the son of a fire chief.
