Chickadees and Pansies This was made from a commercially-produced kit for Crewel Embroidery on a painted background fabric. We love to feed the birds and this image is a cheerful one and a fun one to stitch.

Boudoir Monogrammed Pillow This pillow, made in the style of Fine French Handsewing, was started in a class with the Edwardian Lady who came to our Embroiderers' Guild to teach. It features ruched silk ribbon, beading, surface embroidery, pintucks, lacemaking, and entredeux stitching. To think that this all started with a flat piece of batiste! Every stitch is by hand and the pillow insert and buttonholes on the back are also made by hand. I wonder how many others in the class finished. A fun project! |

Traditional Ukrainian Rose Ukrainians love to decorate their clothing, blouses, lapels, etc, with embroidery. This motif of a rose was created by stitching over waste canvas, a very handy technique. The project fulfilled the requirements of a group correspondence course. |
Practice, Practice, Practice, Ukrainian Style This is the first Sampler of stitch patterns I did for the Ukrainian Correspondence course. The back of the pieces look quite different than one would expect, using their methods. |

Final Sampler of Ukrainian Motifs on Linen This is a collection of traditional Ukrainian motifs worked in a very specific manner, very unlike cross stitch as we know it in the U.S.A. Check out the birds with four feet each. Too cool, and very fun to learn about Ukrainian culture, too. |
