Keep on the Sunny Side

written by Ada Blenkhorn in 1899

As played and sung by James Gorham accompanied by mandolin and guitar. The song is a welcome gift to his mother. Thank you!

A frozen lake in northern New Hampshire is the perfect place to sled!

Grandma's love bug, Patrick, whose photo keeps her "on the sunny side."

"Keep On the Sunny Side"

There's a dark and a troubled side of life
There's a bright and a sunny side, too
Though we meet with the darkness and strife
The sunny side we also may view.

CHORUS:  Keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side,
Keep on the sunny side of life
It will help us ev'ry day, it will brighten all the way
If we keep on the sunny side of life.

Oh, the storm and its fury broke today,
Crushing hopes that we cherish so dear;
The clouds and storms will, in time, pass away
and the sun again will shine bright and clear.

Let us greet with the song of hope each day
Though the moment be cloudy or fair
Let us trust in our Saviour always
He'll keep everyone of us in His care.

This song was made famous by the Carter family in the early twentieth century and seems to have been their ticket to fame, at a time when it was important to "keep on the sunny side."
