Instructions were written by Patricia Cummings for publication in Traditional Quilter magazine, now called The Quilter magazine. --- Civil War Reproduction Quilt - This is the set of directions for machine piecing a replica of a Civil War U.S. Sanitary Commission Quilt. I originally designed this set of quilt instructions, in a step-by-step manner, photographed by James Cummings, to assist in the Home of the Brave Charity Quilt Program for the families of soldiers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan. While the quilt pattern is an old design, the instructions were written by me, a teacher and certified master craftsman in quilting. The program has flourished and more than 4,500 quilts have been made for distribution. I hope you'll consider making some blocks or an entire quilt for the program.
