Civil War Reproduction Quilt - This is the set of directions for machine piecing and m aking a replica of a Sanitary Commission Quilt. I originally designed this set of quilt instructions, in a step-by-step manner, photographed by James Cummings, to assist in the Home of the Brave Charity Quilt Program for the families of soldiers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While the quilt pattern is an old design, the instructions were written by me, a teacher and certified master craftsman in quilting. These have been disbursed throughout the Internet, and the program has flourished. I hope you'll consider making some blocks, or a quilt, for the program.

We offer many free designs for embroidery on an associated blog written by James Cummings titled, Vintage Cookery. Those designs were all taken from an old catalogue that sold stamping patterns for embroidery in the 1890s. that we have in our collection thanks to a generous soul who gave it to us and was sure we'd "share."
