We offer many free designs for embroidery on an associated blog written by James Cummings titled, Vintage Cookery. Those designs were all taken from an old catalogue that sold stamping patterns for embroidery in the 1890s. that we have in our collection thanks to a generous soul who gave it to us and was sure we'd "share."

Never done Redwork before? This book is for you!

The first book I ever wrote is titled Redwork Renaissance. This updated volume is now offered as an e-book on CD called Redwork Renaissance Revisited, that is mailed to the buyer. The book can be read or printed out from any computer that has Adobe Reader (a free software program) enabled. Included are many designs, Redwork history, and stitching instructions. This book will be invaluable to any beginner and offers a treasure trove of patterns to those who are more advanced.

Civil War Reproduction Quilt - This is the set of directions for machine piecing a replica of a Civil War U.S. Sanitary Commission Quilt. I originally designed this set of quilt instructions, in a step-by-step manner, photographed by James Cummings, to assist in the Home of the Brave Charity Quilt Program for the families of soldiers lost in Iraq and Afghanistan.

While the quilt pattern is an old design, the instructions were written by me, a teacher and certified master craftsman in quilting. The program has flourished and more than 4,500 quilts have been made for distribution. I hope you'll consider making some blocks or an entire quilt for the program.
