a book review by Patricia Cummings
One has to only briefly open the covers of this book, Holiday Quilts, to experience a little of the enthusiasm and joy that the authors put into its creation. Barbara Campbell has made sewing projects for as far back as she can recall. Her friend and partner is Yolanda Fundora, an artist who was born in Puerto Rico. Together they have come up with an array of fun projects including quilts, holiday mantel covers, tablecloths, napkins, pillow cases, table runners, hot pads, roll-up fabric shades, and other items, such as a "Jumping Santa"!
Wondering what to do with that Timtex fabric you purchased? This book has just the right projects that would make a quick holiday gift, yet be functional and pretty, at the same time. One of the nicest features of this book is that the designs could be utilized with any fabric, at any time of the year, to color coordinate and customize your living spaces.

This is just one portion of one of the lovely prints in the Tannebaum Fabric Collection designed by Barbara Campbell and Yolanda Fundora and produced by Windham Fabrics. fabric courtesy of B. Campbell; scan by James Cummings
Three Colorways of Coordinating Fabrics
As if thinking of all of these project ideas were not enough, the duo have designed a coordinated fabric line that has been printed in three different colorways, blue, green, and red. Windham Fabrics produced the Tannenbaum Fabric Line with its motifs of silhouetted children at play in the snow, snowflakes, prancing reindeer, and Christmas trees.

A portion of the same line of fabric as noted above.
As a former technical reader for The Quilter magazine, and as former editor of Quilts & Coordinates and Fabric Trends, Barbara Campbell has experience in editing written pattern instructions. One can see that every caution is taken to explain carefully how to proceed. In addition, there are clear photo illustrations available.
A huge packet of designs are held in a large envelope on the inside of the last page of the 128 page book. This book would make a nice gift for any quilter on your gift list, or a quality present to yourself. No one who loves Christmas, or even just celebrating Every Day, should be without this book!
