Unsolvable Mystery

A kind soul sent me a package that contains two items she thought I would like. First of all, I was very surprised to see that aprons were sold as yard goods, to be cut out in pieces and stitched together. She sent the same apron yardage in two colors, blue and pink.

Do you notice anything wrong with this item?

Hmm … Seems that “junior” or someone was bored. He or some unidentified person has cut out one large flower and two smaller ones, in the exact same places on both aprons. The question, “Why?” will ever linger. I wonder if this was malicious damage or if the “cut-up” actually did something with the missing pieces. Some things are not for us to know. Surely, this was a deliberate action. Mice are smart but not that smart! I am baffled.

  1. The apron is cut from yard goods. I don’t know the date. If you look closely, you’ll see some of the “flowers” missing. Someone has cut them out, either to be devious or to use them in a project. This was a gift sent to me. I was just amazed that the pieces for aprons were sold in that manner.

By the way, do you have an approximate date, manufacturer, or other info on these? Ever seen a vinatge example made up?

Intersting. At first I thought what was “wrong” was that there were no ties to hold the apron behind the neck. But the small diagram looks as if you cut out a hole and finish the edges so it goes on over the head??

I believe it was used for broderie perse also.
It looks like many of my pieces of fabric!
